EIFL is delighted to partner with the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) for a webinar on emerging technologies of Text and Data Mining (TDM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data. The webinar is organized in cooperation with the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC), EIFL’s partner in Kenya, and the Right to Research in International Copyright Law project*.
The webinar will introduce copyright issues relating to AI/TDM and Big Data, the potential of AI and the context for its use in Kenya, as well as the international perspective on copyright issues and AI. It will help to identify any policy or legal gaps at national and international levels, and any steps that might be needed to support the development of TDM/AI and Big Data.
The speakers are Angeline Wairegi, Research Fellow (Centre For Intellectual Property And Information Technology Law, CIPIT, Strathmore Law School), Prof Sean Flynn (American University, Washington College of Law), Ms Faith Omondi, KECOBO, Cynthia Nzuki and Mitchel Ondili, Research Assistants (CIPIT).
* The Project on the Right to Research in International Copyright is supported by Arcadia – a charitable fund by Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin.
