On the 18th and 19th of September 2023 the Heads of State and Government and high representatives, met at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, at the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, to review progress and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Among the commitments reaffirmed for sustainable development, many remaining gaps and commitments were also highlighted. The Political Declaration committed to implement the 2030 Agenda and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by the target year of 2030 and to revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. To this end, it was committed to address the major structural impediments to accessing new and emerging technologies including through scaling up the use of open science, affordable and open-source technology, research and development, including through strengthened partnerships.
